1. January and the apex of the high season

January is also a month with a major influx of cruise ships and passengers for the 2024-2025 period, and it’s set to be the busiest. 35 ships are expected, along with a total of 116,229 visitors (84,214 passengers and 32,015 crew members). 13 dates with multiples arrivals, 3 maiden calls and 6 dates with overnight stays will round up the month’s tally.

 

2. Final December balance

As expected, December was a month of high activity for the cruise terminal, bringing about a total of 29 ships, 69,377 visitors (47,909 passengers, 21,468 crew members) and an economic impact of $ 7’368,474 USD. Additionally, 10 dates had multiple arrivals (some of three or four cruises), 3 ships had their maiden calls and 8 overnight stays happened through the month. Lastly, the week from the 23rd to the 29th was the busiest, demanding services for 12 ships in total.

 

3. February Forecast: the end of the high season

Although February’s turnout is lower than December or January’s at 22 ships, it’s still noticeably higher than the remaining months’. 64,487 visitors (45,841 passengers and 18,646 crew members) will visit the Cartagena Cruise Terminal on that month and 6 dates will host multiple arrivals.All visitors are invited to check the Cartagena Cruise Terminal’s new attraction: “La Preciosa” (The Lovely Mine), an immersive audiovisual experience that will teach them about the wonders of Colombia and all the different sights they can find in the city and the terminal.

 

4. Discover the Keel-Billed Toucan in Port Oasis Cartagena

The Keel-Billed Toucan (Ramphastos sulfuratus) possesses a large and colorful beak, and though it may appear heavy, it’s actually a spongy bone that’s covered in keratin. Its habitat spreads all the way from Mexico to the north of Venezuela and the Colombian Caribbean and Pacific regions. Uniquely, Port Oasis Ecopark is the only sanctuary in the Colombian Caribbean where this species has produced in captivity.

 

5. Find beautiful handcrafted pottery in the Colombian Shopping Village

The Colombian Shopping Village offers you a wide selection of colorful and finely-decorated ceramic pottery from several different cultures and towns, made by the hands of expert artisans. One of the premier localities is Raquira, which name means “City of Pots” and which has been well-known for the quality of its work in this regard. As much as 80% of the inhabitants of these localities live off making ceramic handcrafts.
