In March, 61,827 visitors arrived in Cartagena on passenger cruises.

This total is made up of 41,840 passengers and 19,987 crew members who arrived on 29 different cruises and luxury excursions on routes visiting the Caribbean’s most sought-after destinations.

The visit of 61,827 cruise ship tourists and passengers injected US $6.5 into the city. The visit of 61,827 cruise tourists and passengers injected US $6.5 into the city, with passengers spending more than US $5.1 in the city and crew members close to US $1.4 US.

Busiest days

This month, the busiest day was Friday, March 15, when two ships— MSC Divina, and Celebrity Constellation—  three ships— They brought a total of 7,731 visitors, including 5,451 passengers and 2,280 crew members.

Another busy day was Tuesday, March 5, when 6,129 visitors (4,219 passengers and 1,910 crew members), arrived on the Norwegian Gem and the Norwegian Sun.

In March, three cruise ships spent the night in the port of Cartagena.

· Star Pride (March 6 and 7)

· Le Dumont D'Urville (March 12)

· Celebrity Constellation (March 15 to 16)

· MSC Explora (March 24 and 25)

A very active February

In February, cruise activity impacted Cartagena's economy with the arrival of 52,531 passengers and 21,793 crew members, totaling 74,324 visitors.

This activity injected more than US $7.9 million into the local economy.

 

Busiest days

Busiest days (February)

February 23 was the busiest day of the month, as the port of Cartagena welcomed two ships—Celebrity Beyond, Norwegian Gem— which together brought 7,955 visitors to Cartagena (5,567 passengers and 2,388 crew members).

Other notable days included February 2, when the Ruby Princess and the Marella Explora 2 brought 6,641 visitors to the city, and February 9, when the Norwegian Gem and the Aurora docked in the port of Cartagena with 5,835 visitors.

 

Overnight stays

In February, five cruise ships spent the night in the port of Cartagena. These include the Stad Amsterdam ship, which arrives on January 29 and sets sail on February 1; Star Pride (February 7-8); Emerald Azzura (February 16-17); Grandeur Of The Seas (February 19-20); and MSC Explora (February 21-22).

Port Oasis EcoPark: Crestless Curassow

This bird is commonly known as the crestless curassow (scientific name: Mitu Tomentosum) and belongs to the Cracidae family.

This species measures between 80 and 85 centimeters in length, boasts bluish-black plumage, and lives alone, in pairs, or in small groups. Although it predominantly lives in Colombia’s Eastern Plains, it can also be found the northern regions of Brazil, western Guyana, and southern Venezuela.
